SERVICE to our COMMUNITY
2025 Day of service
Chapter members and friends enjoyed partnering with SF Recreation & Parks Dept. for the monthly groundskeeping effort at the Palace of the Legion of Honor.
So many weeds!
2025 day of service
Members spent a rewarding day serving and distributing food to grateful families at the farmers market-style pantry in the beautiful St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church. The welcoming greetings of volunteers provided a warm, positive and dignified experience for the 300+ people served.
2025 Warm Clothing Drive benefiting Swords to Plowshares
We filled 11 extra large Hefty bags and 2 large boxes to donate: 66 pairs heavy wool socks, 70 shirts, 72 pairs of briefs, 17 sweatshirts, 5 sweatpants, 12 sweaters and 50 coats!
DAR volunteers and Swords to Plowshares staff distributed the coats and other clothing to Veterans who were excited to model their new winter gear! It was such a rewarding day for all the participants.
Our Chapter organized a ceremony to honor San Francisco Veterans who served during the Vietnam war. Hundreds were in attendance to honor these brave soldiers. As each Veteran came to the stage to receive their pin, hearts swelled with joy and gratitude.
Lunch, a robust sing-along and moments to share and reflect left all participants thankful for being honored and remembered.
